About Us

Catawba Heights Elementary School is a small, neighborhood school that’s deeply rooted in the Belmont community. With an average class size of 16 students, we provide a welcoming, family-like atmosphere where students feel supported and valued.

Since 2014, our school has consistently met and exceeded academic growth goals, and last year, we celebrated the second highest proficiency gain in Gaston County. Our strong academic foundation includes after-school tutoring for students in grades 3-5. These sessions, held twice a week, focus on reading and math skills and are designed to help every student reach their full potential.

At Catawba Heights, students also grow as leaders. Our active Student Council plans schoolwide events, including canned food drives, Cupid card fundraisers and efforts to support Teacher Appreciation Week.

We are proud to partner with churches like Elevation Church in Belmont and others in our area to provide supply drives and weekend backpack programs for students. Our school is also part of the Reading Soulmates program, which brings in high school students to read with second graders to boost literacy.

Our ESL program is strong and inclusive. Several staff members are multilingual, and we have a bilingual social worker on campus twice a week to support students and families.
