Getting ready for a new school year

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 12. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school and having an awesome school year.

Catawba Heights Elementary is a neighborhood school with deep community roots. With small class sizes and strong partnerships with local churches and organizations, we create a supportive learning environment where students thrive. Our students continue to meet and exceed expectations on math and reading End-of-Grade tests, showing strong academic growth year after year.

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually.

Kindergarten Boot Camp Set for Aug. 4

Join us for Kindergarten Boot Camp on Tuesday, August 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. Families can tour the school, meet teachers, and ask questions. Students will take a short assessment to show off their skills and get ready for an exciting year ahead. Register here.

Open House

Catawba Heights will host an open house for all grades on Tuesday, August 11 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Families are invited to meet their child’s teachers, connect with the school's new principal, ask questions, and get ready for an exciting new school year.

Academics

At Catawba Heights Elementary, our students have consistently met and exceeded academic growth goals, and in 2024, we celebrated the second highest proficiency gain in Gaston County.

Welcoming Multilingual Families

We’re proud to support every student and family through strong ESL services and multilingual staff. A bilingual social worker is also on campus twice a week to help serve the needs of our diverse school community.

Extra Support for Academic Success

Our school offers after-school tutoring for students in grades 3-5. Students receive extra help in reading and math during six sessions held twice a week.

Clubs and Activities

Students have access to a wide range of academic and enrichment programs, including Math Masters, Battle of the Books, robotics, art, music and more
